Reach for the Stars is a private school for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder located in the Midwood section of Brooklyn, NY that operates 12 months a year. Our collaborative model includes Special Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational therapy as well Music therapy. Each therapy and behavioral intervention is an integral part within the well-balanced model. Each domain works collaboratively towards the same goals, in support of each child's individual success. The collaboration of the therapies coupled with the highly individualized instruction enables every student the support and tools needed to reach their goals. Each student’s goals and curriculum targets their challenges and capitalizes on their strength.

Reach for the Stars is a 12-month private not-for-profit school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Occupational Therapist to join our school.

Professional Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in occupational therapy
  • Current New York State occupational therapy license required

General Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Manage small caseload
  • Provide individualized and group occupational therapy services
  • Organize and adapt programs to meet student skill level
  • Conduct, score, and analyze assessments
  • Create, score and update OT IEP goals
  • Complete annual progress reports and evaluation reports
  • Daily documentation notes of individual and group occupational therapy sessions
  • Actively participate in OT Dept meetings and individual supervision time
  • Collaborate with team members and participate in weekly team meetings
  • Recommend and implement appropriate therapeutic programs and interventions
  • Train, assist and provide OT in-service to classroom staff on therapeutic programs
  • Provide weekly progress updates to parents
  • Prepare for and participate in IEP meetings for students on caseload
